Rose Quartz is often referred to as the ‘love stone', the stone of unconditional and universal love. It is the ultimate stone for awakening and opening your heart chakra allowing vibrations of love to flow freely and without fear, helping to attract new love into your life and promote healthy, harmonious relationships built on trust.
Rose Quartz features in a classic myth involving Adonis the god of beauty, fertility, and permanent renewal, and Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Adonis became entangled in a love story with Aphrodite, who could not bear to be apart from her mortal lover. This resulted in enraging her past lover Ares, the god of war.
Ares sought every way possible to get revenge on Adonis for stealing her away from him. Eventually, he manifested himself into the form of a wild boar and set out to mortally wound Adonis, but after doing so the resulting screams of Adonis caught Aphrodite's attention who, in rushing down from heaven to save him, caught herself on the thorns of a briar bush. Holding a dying Adonis in her arms, their blood combined to form anemones in the ground, and the droplets stained the white quartz pink, hence the term Rose Quartz.
The fusion of their blood brought out Zeus's compassion who brought Adonis back to Aphrodite for six months a year, hence why Rose Quartz is the central symbol of reconciliation and undying love.
Another myth involved Eros (or as he was known in Roman Mythology, Cupid!). Eros, the god of desire, love and attraction, was said to have brought the beautiful pink gem down from Olympus (the heavens) to introduce love and romance to the mortal beings, as this was the love stone itself. The romantic pink hues that the stone boasts were thought to be so powerful that they would inspire love into all humankind.
I love both stories!
If you are searching for love or wishing to enhance a relationship you are already in, including the one with your inner self, this is therefore the perfect stone for you.
Rose Quartz carries a soft, feminine energy and purifies and opens the heart at all levels to promote love, self-love, bonds with family, friendship, romance, deep inner healing and feelings of peace. It is one of my favourites and a great bonding stone between mother and child.
It has a calming and reassuring energy and can help to comfort us in times of grief, and can offer support and comfort to us whilst grieving or experiencing loss. It encourages self-forgiveness and acceptance, invoking self-trust and self-worth. It is also a great stone for those with low self-esteem and a lack of self-belief in themselves, helping them to learn how to love themselves and how worthy they are.
Rose Quartz dispels negativity turning such feelings into positivity and love, and it protects against environmental pollution, replacing it with loving vibrations. It also strengthens and balances the physical heart and circulatory system.
Keeping crystals within your aura allows the stones to bond with your energy and if you look after them, then they will always look after you. Wearing or keeping gemstones near to you can have amazing grounding properties and leave you feeling calmly in control and supported.
Carry this stone with you for strength, love, calmness, and peace and to be a great reminder to love yourself wholly, and to attract more love into your life.
Add beautiful carvings and free forms to a room to purify, clear, and cleanse the energy, absorbing negative and unwanted energy and replacing it with positivity and light. To invite loving warm energy into a room, fill the room with Rose Quartz.
Rose Quartz is one of my top must-have crystals along with pink zebra, amethyst, smokey quartz, fluorite, clear quartz, green aventurine, and lepidolite. If you don't have one, then head over to my store and start off with a simple tumble stone to pop into your pocket. A fabulous grounding stone should also always be in your collection and I will be writing a blog on these shortly.
